MGMS Robotics State Competition

Submitted by kate.elliott on

On March 24th the MGMS Robotics Club participated in a statewide competition at the Lehi Legacy Center. Students have been working on building their ROVs since November and finally got the chance to show their skills! The competition was challenging, but the students worked through issues like lost propellers or a blown fuse to compete. One of the sponsors, US Synthetic was there with 3D printers and MGMSโ€™s very own Mara Anderson learned the pitch and could very well be the next US Synthetic employee! They have so much to be proud of! Great work Bobcats!

ESL Class Happenings!

Students in Kristee Christensen's class made boxes to put in classrooms throughout the school so teachers and students could recycle used writing utensils and old glue sticks. It's been pretty successful so far!   Mrs. Christensen's students created boxes, designed posters, and wrote announcements.

They also made made rockets and launched them!

This past Saturday five Maple Grove Middle School students (Beckett Mickelson, Caleb Adams, Ashleigh Oliver, Rachel Petersen and Brayden Briggs) participated in the 2022 Utah State MATHCOUNTS Competition in Salt Lake City for grades 6-8. They were invited to compete based on their exceptional performance in previous 2022 MATHCOUNTS competitions. About 80 students from throughout the state attended the competition so to be invited was quite the accomplishment and represents our school well.

LeAnn Miller's class had a pi day celebration! We talked about Pi day facts (did you know Albert Einstein was born on pi day?!), had a contest to see who could memorize the most digits of pi, (Cardon Reeder memorized 151 digits of pi) and of course, ate Real Pie!

Let the Madness Begin!   March Mammal Madness is an annual tournament of *simulated* combat encounters among animals answering the timeless question โ€œWHO WOULD WIN?โ€ Scientists estimate which is the winner in an encounter from a probabilistic assessment of the two species' attributes within the โ€œbattleโ€ environment.
