We hope you have a wonderful holiday. School will resume January 4th. 

Students in Mallory Ross' class were surprised to see Santa as he came to visit them and ask them about their Christmas wishes.  They sang Rudolph the Rednosed Raindeer while playing Santa's bells and sat on his lap to get a special gift!  We Love You Santa! 

The last eight days, we have been celebrating spirit week!  Oh What Fun we all had!  The students and Teachers at Maple Grove are very excited for Christmas!  

Local author James Harkness stopped by for an awesome presentation and writing workshop with Miss Dannelly's 6th and 7th grade English classes. Students learned strategies for creating a plot, developing characters, and describing settings. Students had a lot of fun coming up with story pieces and sharing their creativity. Mr. Harkness also discussed his process for writing his new book The Heroes of Pen-nan and donated two copies of the book to our school!

Mrs. Brown's reading classes were awarded a grant from PBS Kids of Utah. The money was used for a reading marathon throughout the month of November. Students recorded their reading minutes at school and home each day. The overall winners in the competition were 
1. Emily Lenoir, 5,859 minutes
2. Eve Brown, 5, 285 minutes
3. Garrett Thomas, 4,083 minutes

Lilia Shaw,  Emalyn Van Orman, and Amelia Peackcock have definitely REACHed higher by completing the 40 Book Reading Challenge!  Way to go readers!  

Congratulations to the Maple Grove Students who won an Award of Excellence and got to move on to Regionals.

Ellie Hilton won at Region for her literature entry and she is now going on to the State Finals.  Congratulations to all the students!
