November 2021
November Students of the Month
Our Maple Grove teachers nominate students once a month that are achieving class goals, making improvements in their learning, and being an all around good student. Students were honored by their teachers who wrote about the students and their accomplishments so far this year. Congratulations to these students who were chosen to represent our school for the month of November!

Thankful Circles
After completing their science benchmark assessment, students were able to take a moment and ponder what they are thankful for and write it on a “thankful circle.” These circles were then hung outside Hannah Nelson's science room to share their thankfulness with others! Here are a few of their thoughts!
Thanksgiving Comes Early to Miss Ross' Class
Mallory Ross' class made a Thanksgiving Feast! Students and teachers started cooking first period and cooked all the way to fifth period. They made mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, rolls, and two kinds of pie! What a great time they had cooking and then eating the feast!
Looks Real - Really Yummy!
Students in Ashley Mickelson's 6th grade art class learned about blending techniques using colored pencils. Each student chose a candy to draw using the color pencil technique learned in class. The students then added shadows and highlights in the packaging to look more realistic!
Textures in Art
Students in Ashley Mickelson's art class were learning about creating real texture in their artworks. They created an artwork in aluminum that illustrated the texture of an animal of their choice.
Book, Books, Books
Maple Grove Librarian Shauna Mundinger loves books! She has ordered a lot of new books for students to enjoy. Here is just a sampling of all the new and excited books at your own Maple Grove Middle School library! Come to the library and check out these new titles.
The Emperor's Silent Army
Kacy Carr's world history class was learning about Ancient China. They learned about the Terra-Cotta Army that was buried with the first emperor of China, Qin. The students then created their own terra-cotta soldiers.
