Maple Grove Band students participated in the Band Bash with bands from other schools including Mapleton Junior High and Maple Mountain High School. The students performed amazingly and it was fun to watch the mad musical skills that these students have developed in just the short time that they have been learning.
Mrs. Angela Harman is our amazing orchestra teacher. Each day she works with more than 300 students many who have never held an instrument until they walked into her classroom. The students work diligently too. Thursday evening, they showed their amazing transformation into musicians at their first concert! What an amazing night! Well done!
We are so excited for Mrs. Jenny Luke who joined the Maple Grove Team this year. She wrote a grant to get more reading materials for her students and received $1000 check from Nebo Foundation. Mrs. Luke is very excited to purchase new titles for her English students! Congratulations!
Students from Maple Grove Middle School visited the board meeting for the Nebo School Board. The student council members talked about the school's vision and how students here at Maple Grove REACH. The students defined what each letter meant. R for Resilient, E for Engaged, A for Aware, C for Caring, and H for honorable! Next, the orchestra dazzled the board with a song. When they finished their first song, they invited the superintendent to play a song with them.
Mrs. Ross' class went to the Zoo this past Friday. The students had a great time seeing all the amazing animals at the zoo. Molly said the giraffes were amazing and all the students loved seeing the eagle. Mrs. Ross' class loves the zoo.
Students from 7th grade social studies traveled to This is the Place Monument. The students had a great time pulling handcarts, watching a blacksmith forge a metal leaf, riding a train and learning what it might have been like for a pioneer child at school!
We are so lucky here at Maple Grove to have such amazing people in our office. We appreciate Mrs. Ivie, Mrs. Bingham, Mrs. Olsen, and Mrs. Jensen who are the welcoming faces that students see each day. We love our amazing secretaries. Our office would not be the same without them.
Students are really enoying being outside during lunch so they can look at beautiful Maple Mountain and enjoy the fall colors!
